Learning About Birds – Rainbow Parrots

by admin

These have to be in my top five art projects of all time 😍 LOVE how these turned out. We have been learning about different types of animals and today we discussed the characteristics of birds.

I found a simple drawing of a parrot on google and lowered the opacity so the outline was barely visible. Then, I printed it on watercolor paper for each student. Starting at the head, students painted their parrot rainbow colors (ROYGBIV). Right after painting along the edge, they used straws to blow the pain across the page.

Once everything was dry, the kids colored in the beak and eye with sharpie. So beautiful!
