Epic Backyard Playhouse

by admin

Since our girls were getting older, we wanted a place to spark imagination that would grow with them. They are all avid climbers, lovingly referred to as monkeys, so we wanted to incorporate a rock climbing wall and rope bridge. The Little Tykes slide still worked great for our almost two year old, but it was time for an upgrade.

Now, I know I hit the jackpot when it comes to handy husbands. He is super impressive! I drew a couple sketches before we finalized the plan. He mixed all the concrete for the supports, cut all the wood, put on every roof shingle, BUT I did help with painting, haha! We repurposed our sandbox we already had by giving it a fresh coat of paint and bench seating around all sides. The plan was to put a spiral slide on the front, but after buying all the lumber at peak 2021 prices, we decided to hold off. Two years later, there is still no slide, but the girls still play in it all the time. We put pea gravel underneath and hung Christmas lights inside and out. For the inside, we used an old rug from the playroom and a play kitchen I made out of nightstands. I linked some of the products we used below if you’re curious!
